In accordance with at least selected embodiments, aspects or objects, there are disclosed or provided new or improved pins adapted for use with high or higher COF polymer membranes or separator membranes (also known as sheets or films), polymer tension measuring, and/or related methods of use, of cell or battery manufacture, and/or the like. In certain embodiments, the new or improved pins are especially well suited for use with dry process polyolefin microporous membranes, separator membranes, or separators. In certain selected embodiments, the new or improved pins are especially well suited for use with dry process polyolefin microporous membranes, separator membranes, or separators in Z-fold or S-fold machines for the production of lithium ion pouch cells, lithium polymer pouch cells, lithium prismatic cells, and/or the like.

Abstracts:
The separator according to the present invention comprises a separator substrate and an inorganic coating layer disposed on at least one side of the substrate, wherein the separator substrate has a concave-patterned portions, formed by a pattern of recesses, applied only to outer perimeter portions thereof. Such features of the separator according to the present invention ensures a high binding strength between the separator substrate and the inorganic coating layer and can also exhibit excellent resistance characteristics. In addition, an electrochemical device comprising the separator according to the present invention may have the effect of preventing lithium plating by arranging the concave-patterned portion in the outer circumferential end portion of the separator to overlap a tab portion of an electrode when applying the separator to an electrode assembly.
본 발명에 따른 분리막은 분리막 기재 및 상기 기재의 적어도 일측면에 배치된 무기 코팅층을 포함하며, 상기 분리막 기재의 외주 말단 부분에만 오목한 형태의 패턴을 갖는 오목 패턴부가 적용된 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 분리막은 상기와 같은 구성 특징으로부터 분리막 기재와 무기 코팅층의 높은 결착력을 확보함과 동시에 우수한 저항 특성을 나타낼 수 있다. 또한, 본 발명에 따른 분리막을 포함하는 전기화학소자에 있어서, 상기 분리막이 전극 조립체에 적용될 때 분리막의 외주(外周) 말단 부분의 오목 패턴부가 전극의 탭(tab) 부분과 중첩되도록 배치됨으로써 리튬 플레이팅이 방지되는 효과가 발휘될 수 있다.
