Many thanks to Soeren Striepe for a nice joint presentation at
Advanced Design & Manufacturing Expo – ADM Toronto.

It is very important that materials / cell / pack and process development happen synchronously.
-
A range of electrolyte film deposition approaches is pursued that are either close to existing wet slurry deposition
processes used already in the Li-ion battery industry, or are adopted from other industries (such as extrusion / molding, electrospinning).
-
Electrolyte film post-treatment processes provide substantial differentiation through varying temperature ranges
(UV curing at 25-40°C, moderate heating at 90-400°C, and high-temperature sintering at 600-1,200°C).
-
These variations affect liquid/dendrite permeability, achievable thickness (<10 μm target), process costs,
and targeting of 'the right pin in the application bowling alley' (i.e. targeting the right beachhead
application that enables scaling into adjacent applications with larger market volume).
